I'm super tired right now, so please pardon if this artists' comment makes little to no sense.

Anyway. In French class, we've been watching the movie "Joyeux Noël," and apdiofasdf it gave me FEELS man. FEELS. My favorite character is Horstmayer. :meow: But anyway.

I know there weren't actually any British troops in the Christmas Truce of World War One (at least according to this movie,) and that they were Scottish, but I just thought of Iggy and... this image. At one point, the Scottish soldiers started playing "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" on the bagpipes and everyone started singing and asopdfiasdf. ;A; This movie made me very sad and very happy. The Christmas Truce is pretty much my favorite historical event. It kind of gives me hope for humanity. That when push comes to shove, we can still see the value of peace, and that on a basic level, everyone can get along fairly easily. Just like Horstmayer, the whole Christmas thing doesn't actually mean something significant to me because I'm Jewish, but hundreds of former enemies able to come together as friends for Christmas Eve? That means pretty much EVERYTHING.

Most of the time while I was coloring this, there was news on about the school shooting in Connecticut, and... it was really hard to take. The irony of what I was drawing was really making me feel... I don't know. My mom's been seriously depressed about that. My heart goes out to those people affected... and I guess this picture is expressing my hope for change for the future.

Anyway. Pretty darn happy with the shading on this. The background is sloppy, I know, but it was sort of supposed to be, in order to make it look as barren as possible. You know. No-Man's Land. That signifies WWI to me.

I hope everyone has an amazing holiday, as this is my holiday picture for the year. Sorry there was no Hanukkah one. ;_; You guys are awesome, btw.:heart:

I need to go re-watch that movie also the British were in the war and the cease fire hmm I can't really remember who fought in the movie version though like if the British were there. I know in the movie there were the Scottish, French and German (that's what I can remember from the top of my head). Did I forget any?
